Spooks- who is the audience?

Demographics-
Audience is both men and women but is mostly targeted at men as there is lots of action.
The targeted age would be adults from 25 to 40.
Middle class, fairly well educated people.
A/B/C1

Psychographics-
Main audience would probably be action fans and maybe quite aggressive people.
They would have to be quite politically intelligent people as there is political views involved.
They would also have to be quite opinionated and good debaters.
Other programmes or films they may watch would include; CSI, programmes with numbers and James Bond- programmes to make you think.

How does spooks draw in it's audience?

The first shot is an aerial shot of the British countryside from an helicopter. It then goes on to show a large English mannor so it's drawing in it's audience by showing British at it's best. It glamorises the situation whith the helicopter, high-tech equipment and a secluded area where they are unlikely to be found. It makes the show seem more exciting and high profile to the viewer. It shows a shot of a nice car which suggests that there is high profile people with money which is associated with glamour. There is alot of action as a few people got killed, the fight scenes are filmed with a shakey hand held camera to make it seem like the viewer is involved. There is also a shot where the gun is pointed at the screen as a character gets shot at to make the viewer seem involved. The first five minutes shows a key factor which lets you know what the rest of the programme will be about. The ending scene is a shot of the gun pointing at Harry; one of the main characters, and the gun is shot but you don't actually see the bullet or Harry so you don't know wether he really did get shot. This draws the viewer in and wants to make them watch more. There is attractive young actors which look smart and well off which can also appeal to women to watch the show. The beggining is slow and intriguing to build tension within the viewer. It then picks up and becomes an action scene which intensifys with dramatic music.
